Check the binding ratchets, double clap, “Drop in 10.” Every skier or snowboarder has a different routine when they are ready to drop in and there is very little overlap, with one exception. They all hit ‘record’ on their GoPro before they drop. The little cameras have quite literally solidified their place on the head of almost every skier and snowboarder in the mountains at one point or another, and all those blinking little red lights have resulted in serious amount of used hard drive space. Some days that feels like an ordeal but there is no other way to get the feeling of being onboard with our favorite ski and snowboard athletes as they attack big mountain lines, chutes, and drops. As spring park days roll around, the GoPro is the ideal size and weight to throw into a gimbal for smooth, stable follow cam shots.

We did some serious GoPro testing, including plenty of questionable placements, tomahawks, and multiple GoPros lost under the Sierra snowpack (for 200 days of the wettest California winter of all time). With a lot of different options to choose from, the Snowledge team opts for the insanely smooth video of the Hero 7 Black. We are, however, holding out hope that the GoPro Session, the ultimate head cam, makes it’s way back into the line up in the future. One thing is for sure, these durable cameras just keep going until we replace them with the next model.
